Our winery recommends the most perfect steak sandwich you’ve ever eaten, enjoy with a glass of Shiraz/Merlot 2015 from “Oenou Yi – Ktima Vassiliades”.


Ingredients:

  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 onions in thin slices
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 800 g beef steaks, boneless
  • cheddar cheese (150 gr)
  • 3-4 sprigs of fresh thyme
  • 2 brioche bread
  • salt & freshly ground pepper
  • 2-3 pickled cucumber
  • rocket /arugula

Preparation:

  • Place a non-stick pan of medium size over medium heat and add the olive oil. Cut the onions and add them to the pan and sauté for 3-4 minutes, until they soften and caramelize nicely.
  • Add the cloves of garlic without cutting them and the springs of fresh thyme and sauté for 1 minute.
  • Place a pan over high heat and let it get very hot. Add the steak to the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side. Add salt and ground pepper.
  • Slice 2 brioche in half.
  • Remove the garlic and the thyme, cut the steak into 1-2 cm slices and to each brioche bread adds the cheddar cheese, the onions and the steak.
  • To the bread top, add rocket leaves and 2-3 pickled cucumber in thin slices.
  • Serve the steak sandwich immediately along with a glass of Shiraz/Merlot 2015 from “Oenou Yi – Ktima Vassiliades”.
